July 4-8, 2008

arrows The Centre co-sponsored the 2008 Economic Design Network winterschool, on “Money and Pricing” held at The University of Melbourne. The winterschool consisted of 30 hours of lectures shared by Professor Randall Wright (University of Pennsylvania) and Professor Preston McAfee (California Institute of Technology and Yahoo!).

July 2-3, 2008

arrows The Centre hosted the 3rd Annual Workshop on Macroeconomics (WMD08), where macroeconomic researchers from around the world met to discuss their work. Featured speakers at the workshop were:

Professor Randall Wright also met with several senior PhD students in the Department of Economics to discuss their research topics.

March 24-26, 2008

arrows Professor Robert E. Lucas Jr. and Nancy Stokey, from the University od Chicago, visited the Centre.

  • Professor Lucas presented a public lecture entitled “The Industrial Revolution and the Macroeconomics of Ricardo and Marx”.
  • Professor Stokey presented a Economics Departmental seminar, entitled “Moving Costs, Nondurable Consumption, and Portfolio Choice”.
  • Both Professors Lucas and Stokey met with graduate students and faculty members in a roundtable discussion about research in macroeconomics.
