Joe Hirschberg completed his PhD from the
University of Southern California in 1984. Prior to completing his
PhD Joe worked as a member of professional staff for the Social
Sciences Research Inc., Sherman Oaks, California from 1973-1974
and then as an economist with J. H. Wiggins Company, Redondo Beach,
California from 1974-1977. From 1976 to 1984 Joe also worked as
a research assistant in economics at the University of Southern
California.
Joe was promoted to research associate at the University of Southern California
in 1984 and then instructor in economics in 1986. In 1986 Joe joined Southern
Methodist University as assistant professor of economics until 1994. This period
also included a period as visiting assistant professor of agricultural economics
at Ohio State University from 1991-1992. In 1994 Joe joined the Department of
Economics as a Senior Lecturer and was promoted to Associate Professor in January
of 2000.
Joe is a Member of American Economic Association and the American Statistical
Association.
