Michael Shields is Associate
Professor and Reader in the Department of Economics
at the University of Melbourne. He is also Adjunct Professor in
the Research School for Social Sciences (RSSS) at the Australian
National University. His research is in the areas of applied health
and labour economics, with particular interest in the socio-economic
determinants of health and happiness. He is also a Research Fellow
in the Centre for the Research and Analysis of Migration (CReAM)
at University College London, and an affiliate of the Health Econometrics
Data Group (HEDG) at the University of York. He joined the department
in 2001.
