Brief CV and Interests

I graduated from Yale in May 2003 and joined the Economics Department at the University of Melbourne as a Senior Lecturer in July 2003.

Prior to joining the Economics Department at Melbourne I was a Senior Research Fellow at the Melbourne Institute and Director of the Centre for Business Cycle Research (now the macroeconomics and business cycle research program) . I have also held positions in

My main research interests are in macroeconomics and applied econometrics. Much of my recent research has been on the business cycle. I also work on labour economics and in the past have done some work on health economics.

I am a fellow of the European Area Business Cycle Network (EABCN)
Joint with Professor Adrian Pagan, I am a director of the Macro-econometric Models and Methods program in the Centre for Applied Macroeconomic Analysis (CAMA) at the Australian National University.
With Stephen Koukoulas of TD Securities and Dr Lei Lei Song of the Melbourne Institute, I am joint creator of the TD Securities-Melbourne Institute Inflation Gauge which is an example of survey based macroeconomics in action.
