Biography
Lata Gangadharan received her Ph.D (Economics) from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles in 1998. Her research deals with the design of mechanisms involving appropriate economic incentives to understand environmental and other social problems. Her contributions in the area of environmental economics have direct relevance to formulating policies for maintaining and improving environmental quality locally as well as globally. In her research on institutions, she has applied experimental designs and econometric skills to questions as diverse as the effect of economic factors on mortality and fertility in developing countries, understanding attitudes towards corruption, and measuring trust and trustworthiness between individuals in economics transactions.
