Dr Nisvan Erkal

Biography
Nisvan Erkal is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics and a Research Associate of the Intellectual Property Research Institute of Australia (IPRIA) at the University of Melbourne. She joined the department in January 2003 after finishing her Ph.D. at the University of Maryland, College Park. In 2007, she was a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley. Nisvan’s research interests are in the areas of industrial organization and public economics. In the area of industrial organization, her research mainly focuses on the law and economics of innovation, and competition policy. In the area of public economics, she has ongoing projects on the transmission of welfare attitudes, cross-cultural variation in corruption attitudes, and the impact of competition on social preferences.
