Biography
Ian King completed his PhD in 1989, and started as an Assistant Professor at the University of Calgary. He moved to the University of Victoria, B.C., in 1991, where he became an Associate Professor in 1994. After taking a position as a visiting professor at the University of Iowa in 1998, he moved to the University of Auckland in 1999, and was appointed Professor and Chair at the University of Otago in 2005. He joined The University of Melbourne in 2007 as a Professor and Chair in Economics. He is currently also the Director of the Centre for Macroeconomics. His main areas of research are macroeconomic theory, search-theoretic approaches to unemployment and monetary economics, life expectancy and development, and the economics of networks and language.
